MicrObs: Wastewater monitoring for a healthier society

MicrObs, Luxembourg’s first national wastewater monitoring dashboard, empowers society with real-time insights into public health. Developed by LIST in collaboration  with the Health Directorate and Water Management Agency, it tracks the spread of some infectious viral diseases, making critical health data accessible to all.
By analysing wastewater, researchers can detect viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), offering an early warning system to help protect communities. This approach proved vital during the Covid-19 pandemic and is now strengthening Luxembourg’s long-term health resilience.
With clear visualizations and educational tools, MicrObs promotes transparency, awareness and informed decision-making — benefiting health professionals, policymakers and citizens alike.
